“Worship is an encounter with God…” These are words that give you a glimpse into this worship pastor’s heart. Derek Janney has a deep passion for the Lord and an intense desire to see the lost come to know the Savior. While being blessed with a tremendous aptitude for business, Derek set his secular work aside to give utmost priority to the Lord’s calling. Pastor Derek is gifted with such fervor for worship. He has led numerous groups into eventful and unforgettable worship experiences all around the nation in the past couple of years. Derek was worship pastor at University Baptist Church of Jacksonville in 2005 and was the bandleader for Next Generation worship from 2006 until the Lord led him to Orlando Baptist Church in August of 2007. Derek brings to OBC a vision that has seen worship all over the world—from singing in Swahili in Nairobi, Kenya to leading thousands of Filipino teenagers to worship in Manila and now, back to his hometown of Orlando, his heart’s desire is the same—to fall in love with Jesus more in each worship experience so we could then emanate His light and love to the world.
